Cookie Policy

Last Updated: 16 April 2026  ·  Effective Date: 16 April 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how the Socium project ("Socium," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on sociumtoken.ai (the "Website"). Read it together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit a website. They can be “first-party” (set by the website you visit) or “third-party” (set by a service used by the website), and either “session” (deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent” (remaining on your device for a set duration).

2. Your Consent

In accordance with the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) and the GDPR, we require your prior, informed consent before placing any non-essential cookies on your device. When you first visit our Website, a cookie consent banner allows you to:

  • Accept all cookies — enables all categories described below
  • Reject non-essential cookies — only strictly necessary cookies are placed
  • Customize your preferences — choose which categories to accept or reject

Non-essential cookies (including analytics) are not loaded until you have given your consent. You may change your preferences at any time via the Cookie Settings link in the Website footer or through your browser settings.

3. Categories of Cookies We Use

a) Strictly Necessary Cookies

Essential for the Website to function. They cannot be switched off and do not collect personal data for marketing purposes.

Legal basis: Exempt from the consent requirement under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive because strictly necessary for a service explicitly requested by the user.

b) Analytics / Performance Cookies

Allow us to understand how visitors interact with the Website by collecting information anonymously. Set only if you have given your consent.

_ga_[CONTAINER-ID]Google (GA4)Persists session state for the specific GA4 measurement stream2 years (up to 400 days in Chrome; 7 days in Safari ITP)

GA4 automatically anonymizes IP addresses. Data collected: pseudonymous Client ID, pages viewed, scroll depth, session duration, device type, browser, approximate location, traffic source, and UTM parameters. We retain user-level and event-level data for 14 months.

c) Functional Cookies

We currently do not use functional cookies. If this changes, this policy will be updated.

d) Marketing / Advertising Cookies

We currently do not use marketing or advertising cookies. If this changes, this policy will be updated and your consent will be requested.

4. Third-Party Cookies

The only third-party cookies set on our Website are from Google Analytics 4. While set under the sociumtoken.ai domain (first-party context), the data collected is transmitted to Google's servers.

Vercel (our hosting provider) does not set any cookies. Sanity (our headless CMS) operates via API and does not set any client-side cookies on the visitor-facing Website.

5. International Data Transfers

Data collected by Google Analytics cookies is transferred to Google's servers, which may be located in the United States. This transfer is protected by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision (10 July 2023) and supplemented by Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. CCPA/CPRA — “Do Not Sell or Share”

California residents may opt out by:

  • Declining analytics cookies via our cookie consent banner
  • Enabling the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in their browser — we honor GPC signals as valid opt-out requests
  • Contacting us at [email protected]

7. How to Manage Cookies

Via our Website: Click the Cookie Settings link in the footer to change your preferences at any time.

Via your browser: Most browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings:

Blocking strictly necessary cookies may impair Website functionality. We honor GPC signals as valid opt-out requests for the sharing of personal information.

8. Google Consent Mode v2

For visitors from the European Economic Area, we implement Google Consent Mode v2 (required since March 2024):

  • Google Analytics scripts default to a “denied” state for analytics storage until you grant consent
  • If you decline analytics cookies, Google may collect limited, cookieless, aggregated signals in a privacy-preserving manner
  • If you grant consent, full GA4 measurement is enabled

9. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the cookies we use, legal requirements, or our practices. The “Last Updated” date indicates when the policy was last revised.
